Rockets with 24mm motors, typically D and E, cannot be launched with the 3mm rod included with the launch pads because it is too thin and would flex excessively. This 5mm launch rod can be fitted to all Estes ramps and those of other brands, when launching rockets with these larger engines.

The rod is shipped in two parts that must be joined together, and the safety cap is included in the package to avoid accidental injuries.
