The Estes Blue Origin New Shepard is a scale replica of the real launch vehicle. Like the real Blue Origin it falls through the atmosphere under a large parachute to gently touch down, after having deployed the capsule. And like the real one, you can fly the Estes New Shepard again and again.

In 1961 Alan Shepard became the first American in space and a decade later he walked on the moon. It’s with that legacy in mind that the New Shepard came to be. Like Alan Shepard did in his first flight, the Blue Origin is designed to carry people in the near space during a suborbital flight. The real Blue Origin New Shepard stands 18 meters tall, fires its BE-3 engine for 110 seconds producing 50 Tons of thrust. It’s marked by name, and with the iconic Blue Origin feather across the airframe. The vehicle ascends through the clouds, more than 100 km above the ground, and into the vacuum of space. Here, the passengers experience weightlessness. The capsule, containing the newly minted astronauts, then falls through the atmosphere under parachutes and touches down lightly on a cloud of dust. The boosters that kick up the cloud allow the capsule to touch down extremely lightly, at a mile an hour or less. The Estes New Shepard is a 1/66th scale model of the Blue Origin New Shepard launch vehicle. It flies to altitude on a C engine (Estes or Klima) and lands gently under a large parachute.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BUILD: Scissors, pencil, fine sandpaper, yellow glue, sanding block, hobby knife, masking tape, primer (white) and paint (grey, orange). (Tools, construction and finishing supplies not included.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO LAUNCH (sold separately): Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad or Klima Launch Pad, Estes Electron Beam Launch Controller or Klima Launch Controller, Estes or Klima model rocket engines, starters and recovery wadding.
High quality AA or 9V alkaline batteries are also required for launch controller (not included).
